Advancing Scientific Innovation • Mentoring Next-Gen Scientists • Advocating for Mental Health Wellness
As an immigrant from the Philippines, Rose De Guzman witnessed first-hand how poverty stifles children’s access to quality education.
She was surrounded by brilliant family members, but whose education and career opportunities were truncated.
Once she moved to the United States, she relied on her can-do attitude, proactive mindset, and tenacious work ethic to pursue higher education.
From balancing work and studies at a local community college to conducting research amidst the pandemic in Boston, she has overcome steep learning curves, unpredictable demands, and limited resources.
This lived experience fuels her drive to advance scientific innovation, mentor next-gen scientists, and advocate for mental health wellness.
